TNVacation.com serves as the front door to Tennessee's tourism ecosystem, connecting visitors with destinations, events, restaurants, lodging, and attractions across the state. As the platform continued to grow, the opportunity emerged to simplify the experience, modernize the visual design, and create a more cohesive system for discovering everything Tennessee has to offer.
I contributed across both experience design and visual design, helping shape the project from early concept development through final execution. My work included moodboarding, UX exploration, interface design, and the development of a tokenized design system in Figma to support a more scalable and consistent experience.
The visual direction drew inspiration from Tennessee's rich cultural heritage. The state's history, music, landscapes, and distinctly American character—while embracing modern accessibility standards and a cleaner, more flexible design language.
One of my primary areas of focus was redesigning how visitors discover destinations throughout the site.
The previous experience relied heavily on individual venue pages and traditional navigation patterns. I helped lead the design of a unified exploration experience that allows users to browse attractions, restaurants, lodging, entertainment, and events through either a card-based interface or an interactive map view across desktop and mobile.
Selecting a card or map pin reveals a streamlined detail drawer containing key information, directions, contact details, and links to partner websites. This approach reduced unnecessary navigation, simplified the site's architecture, and created a more scalable framework for managing destination content across the platform.
The redesigned platform launched successfully with a modernized visual language, improved accessibility, and a flexible design system built to support future growth. By simplifying discovery and reducing complexity, the experience makes it easier for visitors to find their next Tennessee adventure.
